Prof. Selahattin Özmen, M.D.

Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery

Professor Dr. Selahattin Özmen was born in Kızıltepe in 1971. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1995 with a third degree. He completed his specialization in Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery in 2002. With the TUBITAK Fellowship, in 2002-2003, he worked in the United States. He collaborated with Maria Siemionow on advanced microsurgery, stem cells, experimental facial and limb transplants, ischemia-reperfusion injury and quantitative somatosensory testing in diabetic patients, and received 6 international awards. He won the EURAPS Young Scholarship Award and worked in Craniofacial Surgery at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Sweden-Gothenburg in 2004. In 2006, he received the first prize in the Experimental category of PSEF in the USA. In 2007, he received a Certified Wound Expert ICW (International Wound Care Specialist) certificate in Germany. He received 19 awards in total, 8 of which were International. Since 2011 he is an International trainer of AO CMF. His team completed Turkey's third face transplant (Woman to woman and the first face transplant bone) in 2012.
